Job Description:

blumshapiro, the largest New England-based accounting, tax and business advisory firm, is seeking experienced tax professionals for its Shelton, CT office.  Responsibilities will include some, if not all, of the following:

  • Preparing corporate, partnership, individual, and various other tax returns
  • Experience preparing tax returns for high net worth individuals is a plus
  • Knowledge of estate and trust administration, including probate filings, probate accountings, and preparing federal and state estate tax returns is a plus
  • Performing write-up work, analysis of accounts, trial balance, research, and journal entries
  • Conducting complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries
  • Ensuring complete client satisfaction through open communication, managing expectations and meeting deadlines
  • Managing, developing, training and mentoring staff, including performance and engagement reviews
  • Participating in marketing-related activities
  • Attending professional development and continuing education sessions on a regular basis

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, MST a plus
  • CPA certification is preferred
  • 3+ years experience (recent public experience highly preferred)
  • Strong technical tax skills and research capabilities
  • Experience using ProSystem fx Engagement and Tax a plus
  • Ability to problem-solve and think both creatively and logically
  • A demonstrated ability to self-direct and effectively organize and prioritize under tight deadlines
  • Outstanding leadership, mentoring and interpersonal skills fostering client and staff relationships
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills
